Damon Freestone, ex firefighter for the Boston FD, didn’t want to come back to his hometown–Park City, Utah–or work for the fire department. Six months earlier, after losing a candidate under his command, all he really knows about life is that you usually don’t get what you want.
Samantha Worthington only wants one thing—to get back to her sister in Colorado. Fresh out of law school, the only job she finds that will pay the bills is in Park City. But she never anticipated her adrenaline junkie, cliff-diving ways might lead to kissing the stranger who claimed he’s trying to rescue her. Good thing she kissed him, then slapped him for good measure.
After Damon takes Sam to dinner, dancing and zip lining—he’s pretty sure he’s falling off more then a cliff. When an emergency takes Sam back to Colorado, Damon has to make a choice—follow her and try to rescue her again…or let it all go up in smoke.

One of the most difficult lessons to learn in life is that we cannot rescue everyone. Try as hard as we may, people make choices even when we know deep down they are the wrong ones… they aren’t our choices to make. All we can do is our best with what we have to work with – and maybe forgive ourselves for being human.
Both Damon and Samantha are fighting their pasts, choices they and others made and learning how to live with the results.
Rescue Me tells the story of Damon, one of three brothers who have drifted apart over conflict within their family. Truths not known and impressions that are far from correct. Damon made a choice in Boston, one he second guessed from the start but it was still his choice and a young firefighter lost her life. She also made choices but Damon takes full responsibility. He’s lost his job and has returned home to his small town, a place on the fire station roster and face to face with his past.
Sam has left Denver to take a position in a small town law firm. She’s left her troubled younger sister behind along with an angry older sister. She’s still trying to save her little sister, but Zoey also makes her own choices. Damon and Sam meet in unusual circumstances and soon find themselves deep in attraction and perhaps more. Long held rivalries in town bring back bad memories, a family secret will bring brothers back together and maybe a younger sister can be saved… if she survives the trouble she’s put herself into.
Rescue Me is an emotional story of not only the romance between Damon and Samantha, but of families finding their way back together. It’s a quick read, an enjoyable world full of believable characters we’d find in our own home towns. I’d definitely recommend this story for any Romance reader.
