Brandon Chin is one lucky man. He’s got an awesome job working with the production company putting together the new TV show at River’s End Ranch, and he owes his sense of surety to the way his Chinese grandparents raised him. He’s even ready to take his grandmother’s advice and look for love…even though she says it’ll happen when he least expects it.

Such as over lunch at the tiny Chinese restaurant in Riston.

The Golden Palace is failing, despite Lin Dryden’s best efforts. Apparently the people of Riston are bored with the menu after all these years, and it’s up to Lin and her mentor Mr. Lee—the owner—to come up with a way to save the restaurant. Luckily, the lunar New Year is approaching, and that’s the best time to make a new beginning, assuming Lin can talk the intriguing Brandon into helping her.

Between cooking for Valentine’s Day and cooking for Chinese New Year, plus handling some emergencies that pop up, these two learn what real teamwork is about. But is it enough to save the restaurant? And can someone whose license plate says “4CHIN8” possibly consider giving up the lucky life he’s known to find some fortune of his own at River’s End Ranch?

Brittany has been raising her brother and sister since her parents’ death eight years ago. When she gets notice she’s about to lose the only home she’s ever known, she’s at a loss for what to do. After talking to her oldest friend about her problem, she’s surprised by his offer of marriage. She’s loved him since they were very young, but she’s uncertain whether she’ll ever be able to trust him again.

Gideon McClain has loved Brittany for most of his life. After a botched attempt at romance when they were teenagers, he knows it’s time to make his move. When Brittany tells him about losing her house, he jumps at the chance to get her to agree to marry him. She looks at the marriage as a marriage of convenience. He looks at the marriage as forever. Will Gideon be able to convince Brittany that she can trust him romantically? Or will they spend their lives always needing more?

Lani Markland, reporter, has been given the assignment of writing an article about the McClain Boys’ Ranch near Bagley, Texas – primarily about the fundraiser they do every year to benefit those in their care. It sounds like a fun assignment . . . until she gets there and realizes that things aren’t quite what they seem.

Frank McClain has his hands full calming the emotional thunderstorms on the ranch, but all that practice hasn’t prepared him for someone like Lani. With her laser-sharp focus and probing questions, she throws him off balance and sets his world spinning.

Two people with more in common than they realize, and two hearts seeking a place to call home.

Alicia Roper has worked in the general store at River’s End Ranch for a long time now, and she’s seen it all – romances, weddings, daring search and rescue missions – and she’s not surprised by anything anymore. Well, until someone from her past shows up on the candy aisle of her store one day, someone she never thought she’d see again.

Oz Burton has taken any number of odd jobs over the last several years in a search to keep himself busy. He doesn’t like tying himself down to any one place too long. Seeing Alicia again just might be enough to make him change his mind, but there’s a pretty big obstacle standing in their way, and it will take the love of a family to see them through. Of course, add a little rabbit into the mix, and you never know what will happen, especially so close to Valentine’s Day …

Reluctant young tech billionaire, Benjamin Turner, escaped the madness of Silicon Valley to work remotely from a huge ranch in Riston and to raise his eleven-month-old niece. He was named in his sister’s will when she unexpectedly died five months ago. Juggling work and a baby has been challenging. Ben knows he needs help, but finding a good nanny in Riston isn’t easy until he meets Anna Kelley.

But being a nanny has never been Anna’s goal. She was planning to go to law school in the fall. But with the recent death of her father and the change to his will orchestrated by her step-mother, Elise, Anna isn’t sure what her future holds.

Daniel McClain divides his time between the boys’ ranch and the local hospital, using his gift to heal injuries and take away pain from his patients. He’s well used to how his gift works and what the parameters are, but something’s shifting, and he’s not sure if that’s good or bad.

Claire Hudson is looking for a new home. As a chef used to working in five-star restaurants, she’s received plenty of accolades for her talents, but something inside her wants more. She gets on her motorcycle to see where the road takes her and ends up at a ranch outside Bagley, Texas – a place where she must confront her past and accept a future that doesn’t even seem possible.

Neither expect the changes that are about to take place, but the powers that be have it well in hand.
